What You’ll Do:
We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Lender with 5+ years of lending experience out of Customers Bank’s West Reading office to originate, structure, underwrite, and manage commercial and/or residential real estate loans. The ideal candidate will possess strong credit analysis skills, a proven track record of business development, and the ability to build long-term relationships with borrowers, developers, brokers, and investors.
- Originate and develop new real estate lending opportunities.
- Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and creditworthiness.
- Evaluate real estate collateral, market conditions, and property performance.
- Structure loan terms and negotiate financing solutions that meet client needs while adhering to credit policies.
- Partner with credit teams to underwrite and approve loans in accordance with bank policies.
- Prepare and present credit memorandums for loan approval.
- Manage a portfolio of commercial and/or residential real estate loans.
- Conduct property inspections and borrower meetings as required.
- Coordinate with underwriting, legal, appraisal, and closing teams throughout the loan process.
- Monitor loan performance and ensure ongoing compliance with lending requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and market conditions.
- Develop referral networks with real estate brokers, developers, attorneys, CPAs, and other industry professionals.
- Manage renewals, modifications, and refinancing.
What Do You Need?
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Real Estate, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in real estate lending, commercial banking, mortgage banking, or credit underwriting.
- Strong knowledge of real estate finance principles, loan structuring, and credit analysis.
- Experience analyzing property cash flows, rent rolls, operating statements, and borrower financials.
- Understanding of loan documentation, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices.
- Excellent relationship management and business development skills.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with commercial real estate (CRE), multifamily, retail, office, industrial, construction, bridge, or investment property lending.
- Existing network of real estate professionals and referral sources.
- Professional certifications related to banking, finance, or real estate.
Technology Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial analysis software.
- Ability to work with the Microsoft Suite and learn/work with other Customers Bank’s applications.
- Familiarity with AI and automation tools that support productivity, workflow efficiency, and client engagement.
