What you’ll do:

The Senior Accountant – Accounting Operations is responsible for assisting the VP, Accounting Operations Manager with the daily and monthly accounting operations of the company. This includes recording investment accounting transactions, SBO loan portfolio activity, Fed Funds purchases and borrowing activity, Federal Reserve Bank transactions, FHLB stock activity, and credit card activity. The position also assists in the month-end close process and related entries, including BOLI, SERP, management fees, subordinated debt interest accruals and amortization, payroll accruals, and other items as needed. Additional responsibilities include preparing daily and monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations, supporting internal and external audits and SOX reviews, and participating in department projects and new initiatives. This position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and monthly accounting operations under the direction of the VP, Accounting Operations Manager

  • Record daily investment, loan, and borrowing transactions accurately and timely

  • Prepare and post month-end close entries including BOLI, SERP, management fees, subordinated debt, and payroll accruals

  • Reconcile daily and monthly bank and general ledger accounts

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests and SOX documentation reviews

  • Support accounting projects, system enhancements, and new initiatives

  • Collaborate across departments to ensure data accuracy and reporting compliance

  • Maintain organized records and ensure accuracy in all documentation

  • Work flexibly and efficiently to meet deadlines in a demanding environment


What do you need?

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university in accounting or finance

  • 3–5+ years of related accounting or finance experience

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency with MS Office and related software

  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively

  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet deadlines or support special projects


Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in a publicly traded banking or financial services environment

  • Knowledge of accounting operations in financial institutions

  • CPA designation with public accounting experience


Technology Skills:

  • Knowledge of banking operating and accounting systems

  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting software systems

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
