What you’ll do: As a Commercial Loan Closer, you will be responsible for coordinating and finalizing commercial loan applications and loan settlements, ensuring all required documents are accurate, complete and compliant with company policies and regulations. This role involves working closely with Relationship Managers, Credit Administration, attorneys, and clients to facilitate the smooth and timely closing of commercial loans.

  • Review and prepare commercial loan documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the gathering of required materials to facilitate the successful completion of a loan application.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, outside attorneys, and borrowers to facilitate the closing process.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with all parties involved in the loan closing process.
  • Identify and remediate any issues that may delay the loan closing process.
  • Work with specialty lending teams, including but not limited to Participations and Syndication teams to assist in their closing process.
  • Provide support for post-closing activities, including tracking outstanding exceptions and following up on any necessary corrections.
  • Work directly with the Loan Documentation and Loan Onboarding teams to ensure a smooth transition from loan closing to loan onboarding.
  • Adapt to changing processes and environments, identifying opportunities to streamline the loan application and loan closing workflow.
  • Work closely with all areas of Loan Operations to maintain consistent knowledge of processes and procedures across the organization.
  • Support other Loan Operations functions as needed to meet business demands, particularly during peak periods.
  • Develop and assist in implementing plans to identify, source, and execute industry best practices for loan processing, closing and servicing.

What do you need?

  • 3-5 years previous experience working as a Commercial Loan Closer, a Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist or similar role.
  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of commercial loan structures and commercial loan documentation, including but not limited to Commercial Real Estate, Commercial and Industrial, Small Business Lending Group (Business Banking), Specialized Financing, Fund Finance and Tech Venture.
  • It is critical to understand the loan documentation life cycle including pre-closing, closing, funding, post-closing and onboarding.
  • Strong knowledge of Commercial, SBA, Participation loan operations is preferred.
  • Strong customer service focus with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality service to internal and external customers.
  • Strong skills in organization, multitasking and prioritization.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week with extended hours when required during peak volumes.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule adhering to multiple required in-office days a week.

Technology Skills:

  • Experience working in LaserPro or an equivalent documentation system.
  • Experience working in Salesforce and nCino
  • Advanced experience with core banking systems (IBS preferred).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to embrace and leverage AI technology for operational improvements and workflow efficiencies.
