OVERVIEW
As an Analytics Engineer at Coastal, you’ll be instrumental in building Coastal’s data and analytics foundation. You’ll work alongside other analytics engineers, analysts, data scientists and data engineers to deliver and maintain high quality, scalable data models that are capable of powering analytics, regulatory reporting, risk monitoring, customer insights, operational decisions, and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain dbt models that transform raw data into curated, business-ready datasets
- Implement and maintain metric definitions aligned with documented business logic
- Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate questions into data models
- Ensure analytics models meet standards for performance, testing, documentation, and reliability
- Participate in code reviews and analytics design discussions
- Contribute to continuous improvement of analytics engineering practices and patterns
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with dimensional modeling concepts
- Experience working with transformation tools (dbt preferred)
- Exposure to modern data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks SQL)
- Ability to work independently on defined problems and incorporate feedback through review
- Strong analytical mindset and comfort operating in a regulated, detail-oriented environment
- Experience with Databricks is a plus
- Experience with Jira, and Notion is a plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
- 1–3 years of experience in analytics engineering, analytics, BI, or a related data role
